Sunderland is a reasonably sized city of around 170,000 situated just south of  Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England. The university is split between the town centre and the impressive St Peter's Riverside Campus. With miles of beautiful beaches and countryside, this city is ideally placed to escape the frenetic pace of life in the south. Shopping and nightlife are both reasonable and transport is good, the metro connects Sunderland to Newcastle upon Tyne, effectively opening up a completely new city.
