With substantial immigration since WW2, Leicester has one of the most ethnically diverse populations in the United Kingdom. An attractive city situated pretty much in the centre of Britain which is apparently a good enough reason to attract students from all over. The city itself is large with a population of over 300,000 and as a result caters well for all your shopping needs; in particular the Haymarket and Highcross Leicester shopping centres. Transport is also reasonable and nightlife is reputed to be excellent. An honourable mention needs to go to Leicester Tigers (Rugby Club), a team repeatedly playing and achieving in Europe, a decent weekend distraction.
