In the past decade Exeter has vied enthusiastically for the title of the most entertaining student city with Newcastle upon Tyne. This long running battle does not look like it will end anytime soon. At the moment Newcastle is in the ascendancy but events such as the Safer Sex Ball keep Exeter and the University of Exeter on the map. Transport within the city is good although you are a little out of the way when the rest of the country comes into play, happily a small international airport is located just to the east of the city. Shopping is decent, although based around national chains and entertainment is varied, the nightlife being a highlight.
